5-Amino-1MQ

Also known as: 5-Amino 1-Methylquinolinium

A small molecule (not technically a peptide) that blocks the NNMT enzyme involved in fat storage and energy metabolism. Animal studies show promising fat reduction without changes in diet, but there are zero published human clinical trials as of 2026.

How it works

5-Amino-1MQ inhibits an enzyme called NNMT (nicotinamide N-methyltransferase). When NNMT is overactive, it depletes NAD+, a molecule your cells need for energy. By blocking NNMT, 5-Amino-1MQ helps keep NAD+ levels up, which may activate SIRT1 (a longevity gene), improve insulin sensitivity, and shrink fat cells.

Safety notes

  • Zero published human clinical trial data. All evidence is from animal and cell studies
  • Not FDA-approved and has not undergone FDA review
  • Quality and purity vary widely between suppliers since it's unregulated
  • Banned by WADA for athletic competition
  • Should only be considered under medical supervision
