Not FDA-Approved (Investigational)Growth Hormone

MK-677 / Ibutamoren

Also known as: MK-677, Ibutamoren, Ibutamoren Mesylate, Oratrope

A non-peptide, oral growth hormone secretagogue that mimics ghrelin to boost GH and IGF-1 levels. It's taken as a pill or liquid, not an injection. Not FDA-approved and has significant safety concerns including insulin resistance and a potential link to heart failure in elderly patients.

How it works

MK-677 is an oral compound that activates the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), which triggers your pituitary gland to release growth hormone. It can increase GH levels by up to 97% and sustain elevated IGF-1 for extended periods. Because it's not a peptide, it survives digestion and works as an oral supplement, but it also significantly increases appetite.

Safety notes

  • FDA lists it as having 'significant safety risks' including potential for congestive heart failure
  • Has not progressed past investigational status partly due to cardiovascular concerns
  • Causes measurable insulin resistance. Not appropriate for people with diabetes or pre-diabetes
  • Banned by WADA (prohibited at all times in sport)
  • Widely sold online but not FDA-approved for any use
  • Requires blood sugar and IGF-1 monitoring if used under medical supervision
