Sermorelin
Also known as: Sermorelin Acetate, GRF 1-29
A growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analog that was FDA-approved in 1997 for children with GH deficiency but discontinued by the manufacturer in 2008 for business reasons. Now widely available through compounding pharmacies and is one of the most commonly prescribed peptides for growth hormone optimization in adults.
How it works
Sermorelin is a shortened version of your body's own GHRH, containing the first 29 amino acids. It tells your pituitary gland to produce and release more growth hormone naturally. Because it works through your body's own feedback system, you get a more natural GH pulse pattern compared to injecting synthetic HGH directly.
Common uses
- Growth hormone optimization in adults
- Improved sleep quality
- Body composition (fat loss, lean muscle)
- Anti-aging and recovery
- General wellness and vitality
Side effects

- Studies show sermorelin increases GH levels and improves body composition in adults
- Research demonstrates improved sleep quality, particularly deep sleep phases
Safety notes
- No longer available as an FDA-approved product (manufacturer discontinued in 2008)
- Legally available through compounding pharmacies with a prescription
- Not a controlled substance, unlike synthetic HGH
- Requires monitoring of IGF-1 levels by a healthcare provider
- Not appropriate for individuals with active cancer
- Much more affordable than synthetic HGH therapy
